Singing lessons for people who want a fair amount of fun thrown in with their learning. Vocal coaching available internationally via Skype. Online courses for singers who would like to learn in their pajamas.

Sorry, Backstage is no longer available

A delicious Netflix style buffet for singers who want to feed the hungry parts of themselves that love to learn, experiment, express and progress.

Backstage is a community designed to keep singers like you in the game.

At this point, you’ve likely tapped out at one point or another, deemed your voice not good enough, felt confused and unmotivated and come away with a few scars after brawling with your inner critic.

But I also know you keep getting back up again like a freakin’ champ.

And I know why.

Singing is a path chosen (consciously or unconsciously) by sensitive creatives who want to be developed.

Who are enticed by what exists beyond their old stories of “not enough” and “just blend in” and “don’t take up space”.

✨ It’s about becoming someone who has the confidence to step into an audition (even when the last three have resulted in No’s)

✨ It’s about becoming someone who can magnetise an audience on stage (despite hearing the snide voice of your inner critic)

✨ It’s about becoming someone who can be vulnerable enough to express their genuine emotions in front of others

✨ It’s about developing a deep level of knowledge, connection & trust with your instrument (despite your school choir teacher telling you you were pitchy)

And getting there requires you to develop

  • clarity around what “good” really feels and sounds like

  • your knowledge of and trust in your voice

  • a sustainable habit (regularly being in relationship with your voice), and

  • self-awareness, courage, resilience and self-compassion

It’s vital that you keep stacking little wins (and lessons from little failures) over time until that part of your identity who previously couldn’t utter the word “singer” to others, starts to confidently declare it so.

So I had a good long think about how to create a community space that serves up a buffet of the learning and support needed to keep singers in the game.

It needed NOVELTY

keeping things interesting and alive, feeding your hunger for knowledge and new ways of thinking.

It needed to be centred around the CREATION of something

the pursuit of something that felt meaningful and expressive.

It needed to have DIRECTION

so there was no way you'd get lost in a confusion spiral.

And it needed to be FOSTERING CONFIDENCE from all sides.

Because the #1 crisis that I see keeping singers in paralysis and questioning isn't a crisis of talent.

It's a crisis of confidence.

What’s it like behind the curtain?

As a member of Backstage you’ll be ushered into a private community space (hosted on Circle).

Each week 1 - 2 fresh trainings will drop over the course of six months (giving you time to devour, ask questions and implement each morsel).

They’ll include

  • trainings on building your aural imagination

so that not only can you define what “good” is but also being able to understand how the singers you love are creating the sounds that make you swoon.

It’s about training your ear so you have a clear picture of what YOU’re aiming for.

  • the foundations of vocal technique

to help you express in the way you can now imagine in the most efficient way possible.

These videos are going to help you become your own best vocal detective so that when you encounter tension or a quality you don’t want, you have a box of tools to get yourself back on track.

  • how to build a sustainable habit and the neuroscience around this

because no matter what you hope to achieve with your voice (whether it’s mastery or just enjoying your own expression) you’re going to need to spend time singing. And quite a bit of it.

The WAY you practice matters and learning about this is to support the longevity of an ongoing relationship with your voice.

  • support in your encounters with your inner critic

learning a new skill or building on an existing one will always come with friction and questioning and mini failures, and how you navigate this can mean you’re engaged, curious and devoted or defeated, confused and frustrated.

We want you simultaneously developing your courage, resilience and self-compassion muscles.

And as well as having a vocal coach on speed dial to answer all your questions throughout the journey …

we also have TWO LIVE MASTERCLASSES in Month 3 and Month 6 where you can be coached in real time (if you’d like) and the option to purchase 1:1 lessons with me at a discounted rate.

As excited as I am by the juicy topics, techniques and ideas I’m going to be sharing with you, I’m much more excited about how they’re going to

  • change the way you FEEL about yourself and your voice, which will

  • change the way you MOVE and take action, which will

  • change your idea of what is POSSIBLE for you.

Because those shifts go far beyond a song or a performance or a skill.

You stand differently, you speak differently, your inner world feels different.

I’ve seen how confidence permeates from the practice room to the office to the living room to the stage. The knock on effects are BREATHTAKING.

And that’s why I think you keep being drawn back into the singing world - because there’s something beyond pretty sounds for you to learn, integrate and live.

If you’re ready for a learning experience x community hybrid to fill in the gaps that are stopping you from

- attending that open mic,

- getting in the recording studio,

- saying yes to singing at your sister's wedding or

- fronting a band

- or just feeling comfortable in your own skin when you sing …

I hope you’ll join us.

It’s going to be quite the ride.
